Before Child's Play, there was this creepy episode of The Twilight Zone, the aptly-titled Living Doll. Starring Telly Savales, it saw aggressive step-dad, Erich, being persecuted by his step-daughter's doll, Talky Tina. To everyone else the doll is just that but when alone with Erich it threatens him, driving him to his wit's end. When any attempt to destroy it fails, it seems it can only end one way... with Erich's demise. The key to the scares in this one is clearly the demonic Talky Tina doll. With her fixed smile and chirpy voice, the contrast between her harmless demeanour and murderous attitude is intrinsically terrifying. Although, you aren't exactly on the side of Savales' rather unpleasant character. In fact, it is suggested that the doll attacks Erich due to his abusive attitude to his step-daughter and in such a way is acting as a champion for the helpless little girl. There you go, killer dolls aren't all bad. Apart from, you know, the 'killer' part.
