It may be an oft-used horror motif but it is still a truth universally acknowledged that ventriloquist dummies are scary, and no matter how many times we see them presented as such it doesn't make it any less true. The Dummy sees washed-up ventriloquist, Jeff (Cliff Robertson, who went on to play Uncle Ben in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films), on the last legs of his once promising career due to his breakdown and alcoholism. The reason for his descent: he claims the other half of his act, wooden dummy Willie, is alive. For the most part, we are left unsure as to whether Willie is real or if Jeff is simply mad - we see glimpses of Willie having apparently moved position and hear muted whispers - but the end of the episode makes Willy's nature clear, in one of the weirdest twists ever in the show. The final time we see the two on stage, the ventriloquist looks a lot like Willie and the dummy closely resembles Jeff. Brr. Going by the evidence of this story and numerous others, you'd have to be a dummy to take up ventriloquism.
