7. Libby (Lost)
Lost is a modern TV masterpiece and a classic show at the same time. Despite that, it's hardly known for capitalising on all its best pieces, quite the contrary in fact. It was a show riddled with abandoned stories and lacklustre payoffs, which lead to plenty of characters suffering.
The show had no shortage of wasted figures (such as Ilana, Ana Lucia and Mr Eko) but, Libby was a real sore spot for viewers. She made a quick impression thanks to her relationship with Hurley and mysterious past, but was torn out of the show before viewers could get some depth from her.
Her lack of a flashback episode irked fans at first, but soon turned into a brilliant plot point after you found out that she spent time in the same hospital as Hurley. This mystery led fans to believe she would be fleshed out and that her backstory would be exciting. But then, she was killed off by Michael before anything was answered, leaving a tantalising carrot dangling on a stick.
While the show did attempt to deliver some answers in the season six flash-sideways narratives, it was too little too late.
