Geoff Johns' Flashpoint arc was a momentous one of major significance for the world of DC Comics, as it ushered in a whole new reality for DC.

After Barry Allen had gone back in time to save his mother's life, that created a new skewed landscape. Across a slew of big-time changes to established DC lore, one of the biggest changes of this timeline was that Bruce Wayne died that night in Crime Alley.

Grieving from the loss of their son, Bruce's dad Thomas became an aggressive, heavy-drinking Batman, while his wife Martha Wayne went insane and became this world's Joker.

By the close of Flashpoint, Thomas had sacrificed his own life in order to once again create a world in which his son is still alive and under the cape 'n' cowl. But before his own demise, he penned an emotional letter for the Flash to give to Bruce once the former timeline is somewhat restored.

In a truly rare moment of emotion, readers actually got to see Batman shed a tear upon receipt of this letter - and so special is this letter to Bruce, he keeps it forever stored in the Batcave.
