10 Shocking Twists That Would Improve Major TV Shows
4. The Show Is A Reenactment Of Senator Leslie Knope's Life Parks And Recreation
Leslie Knope isn't the most media savvy politician, which pretty much means she wouldn't cut it in today's world of the 24-hour news cycle, but despite her eccentric behavior Parks and Recreation does a great job of making the audience want Leslie to succeed. And precisely because she is a person who couldn't become a senator in the real world, she is the type of person that the United States senate needs. She's a hard-worker, a go-getter, and someone with a clear sense of conscience about her actions and the role of the government. So wouldn't it be great if the whole show was a re-enactment by a group playing out the life story of Senator Knope? It would also go some way to explaining the occasionally frustrating mockumentary format that the show uses despite not actually having any cameras filming them in the context of the show. It would be even better if the show was a means of propelling support for Leslie to run for President, sort of a six seasons of an even-handed political advertisement. Sure, this would change the show pretty drastically, but NBC needs a definite ratings boost, and a gimmick like this might just do the trick.
