Given his past with children’s cartoon shows, it came as no surprise that Seth MacFarlane once took a firm shot at reviving one of his all-time childhood favorites. In 2013, his gang of animators announced they intended on bringing back one of Hanna-Barbera’s most iconic cartoons, The Flintstones.

MacFarlane’s unique vision for the potential revamp was to make it more like early The Simpsons' humor to draw in a broader audience. The idea was to get both longtime fans and newer (possibly younger) audiences to tune in. Additionally, he wanted to refresh the animated hit's general narrative and give it a brand-new paint job to make it more appropriate for FOX.

Unfortunately, many of the studio big wigs enjoyed the initial drafts of The Flintstones revival but never fell in love with one of them enough to give MacFarlane the thumbs up.

Although he fought hard to re-launch The Flintstones, the studio ultimately suggested he nixed the concept in favor of working on other projects, such as the Ted movies. Nonetheless, it still leaves many to wonder exactly what a MacFarlane version of the classic kid's cartoon would have been like.
