America is an extremely large country. People in the UK refuse to visit friends if theyre more than an hour away in a car; in the US, thats a next door neighbour. Its also fair to say that the areas around the North of Atlanta have a lot of woodland. But theres only so much the audience can take of wandering through trees and happening upon some little village. Seeing semi-sustained law enforcement and health services gave a teasing glimpse of what other directions the show could take. Seeing the desolation of the aftermath in a metropolitan setting could bring new challenges and new opportunities. Supplies, fuel, vehicles, even food would all would be more readily available in a larger city (as well as competition). Perhaps there could be an homage to George Romeros seminal Dawn Of The Dead with a visit to a mall for the aforementioned shopping trip, a trip down to the docks to search through shipping containers, or maybe a trip to an army barracks in search of weapons. There are certainly more options than "watch out for that tree.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
