What? An actual Simpson topping the list of underutilized characters? And the baby, no less? Here's the thing: in early Simpsons episodes, Maggie actually played a role. A small one, no pun intended, but it was often key. Remember Flanders trying to baptize her? Remember Homer going nuts trying to babyproof Springfield? Remember that time she shot Mr. Burns, even if Smithers would have made more sense (though then you'd have to ignore all that Simpson DNA evidence)? Her first word was an iconic moment on the show. "Do it for her" one of the most moving moments on the show. Yet aside from an episode where she saves Homer from drowning, bonding with Moe, and turning out to be a sniper in season 22's "Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge" she hasn't really done much. How much can a baby do? Enough to be remembered. A lot of episodes, you ask "where's Maggie?" (like grandpa losing his sight), while in others, she's gone so long you forget to even ask. There's not exactly a need for a ton of Maggie themed episodes - the writers just need to remember that the Simpsons have three children, not two.
