In just the second ever episode of The Simpsons, 'Bart the Genius', we start to learn more about Homer and Marge's son and his lack of academical knowledge. After Martin tells on Bart for graffitiing on school property, the latter swaps both of their IQ tests.

With Martin's results going against Bart's name, the constant underachiever is hailed as a genius, and is subsequently sent to a special school for the gifted. While all the focus was on the young Simpson, it's easy to forget that Martin was cheated out of this opportunity for himself.

Here, Martin would have thrived as the actual genius that he was, instead of being forced to stay in Springfield Elementary, where he was bullied, his intellect was under-appreciated, and even his teachers gave up on trying to teach him anything.

Years later, in season six's 'Lisa's Wedding' set in the year 2010, it's revealed that Martin now lives a solitary life in the catacombs underneath his former school, and one can't help but think that it's all Bart's fault. He may have even caused the science explosion that almost killed his classmate.
