Across the years of travel through space and time, it is undeniable that the Doctor possesses a remarkable intelligence. After thousands of years, and multiple different bodies and personalities it wouldn’t be too hard to pick up a thing or two. Whilst the Doctor may not have received as high academy grades as Romana or the Rani, their time in the TARDIS has allowed them to see the wonders of the universe.

Whilst the Doctor’s intelligence could be questioned between incarnations, whether by the aged wisdom of the First, Third or Twelfth, compared to the more ‘younger’ Fifth, Tenth or Eleventh, logically the older the Doctor is the more intelligent they’re getting through added experience.

Whilst the Doctor has regularly been assisted by his gadgets, such as TARDIS and Sonic Screwdriver to get out of scrapes, on many occasions it has been their intelligence and ability to use the things around them.

Over the years the Doctor has chosen to run away from his own people, been UNIT’s scientific, president of Gallifrey, became the Last of the Time Lords and saved Gallifrey. All significant and intelligent moments in the Doctor’s life. Saving Gallifrey itself was a huge task requiring all thirteen Doctors to come together, a complicated undertaking in order to save his species.

With the Doctor currently in their fifteenth body, undoubtably there story is no where near over, and we’ll see plenty more of adventures, where the Doctor saves the day with their sheer intelligence.
