10 Star Trek Characters We Had To Wait Years To See Again

3. Lore Don't Slow Me Down

Brent Spiner certainly isn't a stranger to Star Trek, portraying members of the Soong Dynasty across TNG, Enterprise, and Picard. While this is a range of six different characters, it's one of his earliest that now makes a chilling return.

Pipped only by a few months by Moriarty, Lore last chewed out some scenery back in 1993's season six closer and season seven opener, Descent. However, flashback a few years, and the Data duplicate was first seen in 1987's first season Datalore.

Able to understand and express emotions, Lore can contract words and, if viewers will remember, initially had a facial tick that set the pair apart. All that was probably needed extra was a sinister Spock goatee.

Lore's return in Brothers was, from Noonien Soong's perspective, unexpected, since the message he sent out was intended for Data. This would have tragic consequences for the pioneering cyberneticist. In terms of Lore though, his reappearance as the saviour of an individualised collective of Borg in Descent seemed to prove his final act. However now it seems that Picard will provide something of an epilogue to the character's Star Trek arc.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
