10 Star Trek Characters You Didn't Realise Died Horrible Deaths
9. Hendorff
The Starfleet officer Hendorff was a minor character who appeared in all three of the alternate-reality Star Trek films. In Star Trek (2009) he got in a bar fight with Kirk, then later arrested him and Scotty aboard the Enterprise; in Into Darkness he was part of the team that went to Qu'noS to capture Khan; and in Beyond he could be seen in the background as one of the survivors of the Enterprise's destruction being led into Krall's base.
Interestingly, Hendorff was actually not an original character, but a "redshirt" who was killed in the Original Series episode The Apple. Joining the away team on Gamma Trianguli VI, Hendorff was poisoned by a native plant and killed almost instantly.
It's nice to see a comeback from one of The Original Series' countless redshirts who died during the Enterprise's five-year mission. It's unfortunate that he was credited as "cupcake" in Into Darkness (which was of course Kirk's affectionate nickname for him from the first film).
