10 Star Trek Characters You Didn't Realise Died Horrible Deaths
5. The Original Harry Kim
During Voyager's time in the Delta Quadrant, Harry Kim suffered more hardship than practically anyone else aboard. He was infected by cells from Species 8472, sent to an alien prison, forced to stay an Ensign for seven years, and fell madly in love with a Borg, a corpse and an alien disguised as a hologram, but those are just the highlights.
Harry's darkest moment came in the episode Deadlock. Voyager and it's entire crew were copied by a spatial scission and one of the Harrys, as well as one of the newborn Naomi Wildmans, were killed accidentally by the other ship. Harry was sucked into space through a hull breach, and Naomi's medical equipment failed. In the end, the Voyager that still had their Harry and Naomi was forced to self-destruct, killing the remaining duplicates but the copies of Harry and Naomi were able to escape aboard the other ship just in time.
So, although Harry and Naomi appeared throughout the rest of the series, the two were actually from the duplicate ship that got destroyed. While neither Voyager could be said to be the "real" one (they were exact copies), the Kim from the ship that survived the episode died tragically in the vacuum of space before B'Elanna's very eyes.
