10 Star Trek Episodes You Love To Hate
2. ...These Are The Voyages
Has there ever been an episode of Star Trek that has received quite as much hate as the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise? It has been reviled by cast and audiences alike, with its defenders generally keeping mostly quiet. In the years that followed its release, a rule of thumb became - if Scott Bakula was annoyed by something, it had to be really bad.
Scott Bakula did not care for this episode.
However. While this an awful way for Enterprise to end, is the episode itself that bad? It features the return of Riker and Troi, with a vocal cameo from Data. The Enterprise-D is seen on-screen for the first time since Star Trek: Generations. The audience finally gets to meet the Chef. Shran is back, the birth of the Federation is (barely) shown. There is plenty to enjoy.
The two main problems with it are first, that it isn't an episode of Enterprise so much as it's a forgotten episode of The Next Generation, and second, what is done to Trip. This has very thankfully been undone in the Star Trek novels, so armed with that information, it makes the episode much easier to bear.
It's really not that bad when viewed in isolation. Just know that Terra Firma and Demons are the true ends of the show and you're flying.
