10 Star Wars Expanded Universe Characters Who Deserve A Second Chance On Disney+

4. Exar Kun

Long before Phantom Menace, there was Exar Kun, a conflicted Sith Lord with a double lightsaber who tried and failed to bring the Jedi down. He started out as a respected Jedi Knight but fell to the Dark Side. That seems to happen with quite a bit of frequency. It's almost like the Dark Side is really attractive or something.

Like others on this list, he has made somewhat of a return in supplementary materials. Gadgets and Gear, a sourcebook about the Star Wars roleplaying game, mentions him as does The Art of Solo: A Star Wars Story. But Kun has yet to make an appearance in the modern canon in a critical way.

His story is worth telling, though, considering the key part he plays in A New Hope. The temples the Rebels are using on Yavin 4 were Dark Side in nature, built by individuals enslaved by Exar Kun. There is a very natural and obvious connection that straddles the Expanded Universe and the current Legends continuity.
