Many System Lords model themselves upon the Gods of Earth's various cultures, but one of their ranks embody all of our slightly embarrassing teenage goth phases and instead decided that the Devil was more his speed - Sokar.

As well as surrounding himself with all the edge-lordery that spells pure evil, Sokar's planets follow suit in his campaign of spreading fear through abject cruelty. Chief amongst these worlds is the torturous penal colony of Netu.

Originally an industrialised moon colony of the planet Delmak, once seized by Sokar he begins orbital bombardment to force lava to the surface and fill the air with noxious fumes. With the moon now suitably resembling Hell, Sokar turns it into a penal colony where he would send his enemies to suffer in the hostile environment.

In Sokar's centuries long rule prior to Netu's destruction, only the Tok'ra Jolinar ever managed to escape the savage environs of the moon. Although death would eventually visit all other prisoners, their time before then would be one of total and abject suffering.
