10 Stargate SG-1 Fates Worse Than Death

7. Rapid Ageing & Resurrection

Of all the Goa'uld's favourite bits of stolen technology, the Sarcophagus sits pretty high on the list, as its regenerative properties allow the System Lords to maintain their tyrannical rule across the centuries. However, it's always possible to have too much of a good thing, as would be discovered by SG-1's original nemesis: Apophis.

Neatly stepping into the void left by the death of his brother Ra, Apophis quickly established himself as a ruthless and cunning adversary for SG-1, as well as a fearsome threat to the ambitions of his fellow System Lords. Unfortunately, following an aborted invasion of Earth and the heresy of fathering a human child, Apophis' standing within the Goa'uld fell as he suffered losses and torture at the hands of the vicious Sokar, forcing him to flee to Earth of all places for sanctuary.

Having spent generations rejuvenating his host's body with the Sarcophagus, Sokar's fiendish punishment is as simple as imprisoning Apophis without access to the technology, and watching his body catch up with the centuries it had cheated. Although Apophis would be without his treasured Sarcophagus for this gruelling ordeal, when the moment of death does finally greet him, Sokar could take the opportunity to revive the fallen foe and begin the process all over again.

Want to know a fate worse than dying? How about dying again... and again... and again.
