9. Tim Curry 
For the role of the villain in Peter Davisons last story as the Doctor, producer John Nathan-Turner sought to cast an actor with a distinctive voice. His first choice was Tim Curry who will forever be known as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Curry proved to be unavailable as did David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Ballet dancer and choreographer Christopher Gable won the role. Curry tends to get cast as villains but he was also once considered for the role of the Eighth Doctor. According to the IMDB, he asked his Three Musketeers co-star Paul McGann how he would play the role if he were cast. McGann, of course, was later chosen to play the Eighth Doctor.
