8. X Factor

In spite of no one having any real interest in the show anymore and viewing figures on the slide, X Factor returned once again this year, beginning in August and going on and on until December when it finally came to a head and this year's winner, Sam Bailey released her version of Demi Lovato's Skyscraper with the hopes of it making it to the number one spot of the UK music charts this Christmas. Which, inevitably, it was. The X Factor has been criticised many a time for its choice of celebrity guests, vote rigging and mysterious contestant illnesses that allow them a free pass to the next week's show, and this year was no different. Once again, viewers complained when the judges were "too mean" to contestants, then they complained when Lady Gaga performed her latest single "Do What U Want," calling it inappropriate for family viewing and finally they sounded off over technical difficulties during Sam Bailey's performance in the final. Sadly the best part of the X Factor this year was the numerous comments that Nicole Scherzinger was drunk on more than one occasion, which pretty much says exactly all you need to know about the decline of the show. Over the years, the calibre of the contestants has definitely declined and we've seen more and more comedy acts attend the auditions suggesting that the X Factor may have had its day. Eventually, it's going to just become an endless parade of comically untalented idiots spouting sob stories, with viewers mindlessly voting for who has the best hair.
