When we first started getting teases that Morgan would be returning to the show throughout season five, fans were understandably really excited to see what he would bring to the table.

After all, he was one of the first characters Rick ever met, and Lennie James is a fantastic actor who was sure to bring his all to the character. The last we saw of Morgan he was unstable and dangerous, so mixing him with the people of Alexandria was sure to be interesting.

Instead the writers decided to make Morgan a bit of a frustrating character, who refused to kill in any circumstance.

The problem was we were now six seasons in, and the moral discussion about rights and wrongs of killing people had gotten old. So when Morgan refused to kill Owen, a member of the raider group called The Wolves, it was just annoying to watch as he put the whole group at risk.

Because Morgan didn't just spare Owen, he actually kept him hidden in Alexandria as a secret prisoner, enlisting Denise to help tend to his wounds. This ultimately lead to Owen actually taking Denise hostage. While Denise was able to survive unscathed, you have to wonder how Morgan justified putting every resident's life at risk, all because he didn't want to kill a raider.
