10 Super Disappointing Netflix Original Series

1. 13 Reasons Why

There are so many layers of why 13 Reasons Why is a terrible show. For one, it does the societal disservice of glamorizing suicide and promoting it as a way for misunderstood and bullied teenagers to get back at their classmates.

Even if you killing yourself would, like, make people feel bad about the way they treated you, you would get exactly zero enjoyment out of it because you'd be dead. And while it isn't the job of entertainment to provide a moral compass for impressionable youth, this does feel particularly irresponsible.

But even worse, at the end of the day the series isn't well done. There's a mass of cliches, questionable acting, and a characterization problem which results in about 30 young white teenage males who look fairly similar and are more or less impossible to differentiate.

Simply put, if you're going to make a, for lack of a better word, morally problematic television show, it had better at least be good. This one isn't. Not that it matters, though -- people watched it out of interest or outrage, and it has been renewed for a second season.
