6. Powerless (2017)
Some superhero shows misfire because the premise just isn’t strong enough. Powerless is not one of those shows.
At a time, when the sheer volume of superhero content has arguably made it difficult to present audiences with anything particularly fresh or original Powerless could have been exactly that.
A sitcom set in the DC Universe, Powerless played on an interesting dichotomy of a typical office environment, juxtaposed with an outside world plagued by the chaos and damage left behind by superhero battles. The story follows the staff of Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises and could truly have taken the comic elements of films such as Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy and implemented them in a story that looks at those cleaning up the mess made by our favourite characters. The Office with better heroes than Recyclops.
Instead audiences were met with lukewarm writing and distracting CGI- truly the Kryptonite of many superhero projects.
A show that followed Wayne Enterprises technological developments seemingly got stuck in the Beta stage.
