10 Terrible CGI Moments In Big Budget TV Shows
1. Merlin – The Diamair
No other fantasy show has ever topped Merlin's so-bad-it's-good CGI, and likely never will.
Running for 5 seasons over 4 years, Merlin was a BBC effort that everyone was watching for a while, in spite of its awful visual effects.
It's now universally acknowledged that Merlin's CGI creatures were almost comedic in how terrible they were, but nowhere is this more evident than when we meet the Diamair.
Looking as though it's been lifted directly from the cutscenes of a budget PS2 title, the Diamair was supposed to be the key to all knowledge, and a mythical figure of immense power.
Instead of looking anything like a fantasy creature, it looked as though an alien from a low budget '90s sci-fi movie procreated with a Stretch Armstrong whose head was crushed in a vice.
The Diamair failed to add any gravity to the show's storyline, instead prompting laughter and the uncontrollable urge to stomp the hideous creature to death before it crawled out of the screen.
