10 Terrible Glee Musical Numbers

1. Barbra Streisand: Duck Sauce

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzbH48lpCGM It's almost ironic that a song named after someone who has had a huge influence over the TV program Glee, would also be the worst musical number the show has ever done. Some of you may argue that this doesn't count because the Glee cast are not singing on this track, however this number still takes up about 5 minutes of an episode and is frankly an utter embarrassment. Coming in the middle of one of Glee's all time longest and greatest episodes, "Born This Way" (the episode where I first really fell in love with Santana and where Kurt moves back to McKinley from Dalton) this musical number sticks out like a sore thumb. This episode has mostly wonderful performances... a great duet between Rachel and Quinn, a wonderful Broadway tune from Kurt and a Warbler rendition of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know (one of my all time favorite bands). But then, stuck out of place in the middle of all this greatness is a musical number set in the middle of a shopping mall which Kurt apparently planned for Rachel so that she wouldn't get a nose job. Since when did Kurt (who by the way doesn't really have that many friends) have the power to convince lots and lots of random people we have never seen before to participate in an elaborate dance routine in the middle of a shopping mall. When ever I watch this episode (yes, I have seen it a couple of times) I like to skip over this scene- my eyes almost roll out of their sockets if I do not. That said, it is probably a lot to do with the fact that I truly hate this song. It seems a lot of people love it though and it was even nominated for a Grammy Award... why? To cleanse your pallet after these abysmal 10 Glee covers and to prove that Glee can be good (honestly) I leave you with this... One of Glee's finest musical medleys to date. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDF8CozU5_E

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
