10 Terrible Glee Musical Numbers

6. Candles: Hey Monday

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2Bfs9tkOxw The episode in which Kurt and Blaine sing Hey Monday's song Candles to one another is a very big episode in the two characters relationship. Just minutes before this number Kurt and Blaine had kissed for the first time, and this episode marked the turning point where Kurt and Blaine became Klaine. After this historic moment between the two, fans needed a duet that would be as epic and triumphant as the moment a few minutes prior was. This was not that performance. Never ever ever has Kurt sounded worse, and although Kurt and Blaine's voices generally gel well together (see "Perfect" or "Don't Speak") here the two voices do not get along at all. Like I said previously, I really like Kurt's singing voice, but to all those people that think he sounds like a cat being strangled if you are referring to this particular song you are absolutely right and I can't, nor do I want to defend this number. What a complete and utter buzz kill this really was. The worst thing about all of this however is that since the beginning of the show we have been waiting for Kurt to get a solo, or a significant moment in one of New Directions competition episodes. Here he finally gets a solo on stage and it is utter garbage. There was no way the Warblers were going to win after this and everyone knew it. Not even close. Unfortunately for poor Kurt, he never did get a significant moment in a competition performance again although he is certainly one of the most gifted performers of the Glee cast (see "Not The Boy Next Door" for a show stopper).

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
