4. The Gang Prevented Stuart's Potential Suicide

It goes without saying that Stuart doesn't really fit into the social group with everyone else. The comic book store owner's slightly off personality separates him from the rest of the gang, which is already packed with weirdness as it is.

Despite this, there is a reason for Stuart being so heavily involved with Leonard, Sheldon, and the others.

The majority of what Stuart says and does when he's around the others often seems like he's letting out a cry for help. It's rare for anyone else to know exactly how to react to Stuart's comments, particularly those that are far darker.

Seeing how badly Stuart was suffering, it's plausible that Stuart was brought into the group in an attempt to prevent any sort of tragedy from occurring to him. You don't even need to be an avid fan of TBBT to realise how badly Stuart needed the help. While the gang can't necessarily give him the therapy he requires, what they can do is provide him with that emotional comfort and support that gets him through each day.

Had Stuart not become an honorary member of the group, you don't have to think hard about what would have happened to him.
