8. Every Man's Dream (S27 E1)
Homer has never been the greatest husband in the world, and he was very tempted to cheat on Marge once when Mindy Simmons began working at the power plant. However, it wasn't until season 27 that he finally made the one drunken mistake he had avoided all these years.
After a therapist recommended Homer and Marge separate, he began dating the pharmacy worker who gave him his narcolepsy medication. The two slept together, and when Homer eventually met Candace's father, it turned out that he was dating Marge.
As this was a season 27 episode, it wasn't great at the best of times, but it was the ending that annoyed fans, and essentially confirmed that everyone who watched it wasted 20 minutes of their lives. There is no doubt that the writing for the show has grown lazier as it has continued, but is there anything more insulting to fans that the 'it was all a dream' ending?
At first it appeared that it was Homer's dream, but the entire episode was actually one of Homer's dreams inside one of Homer's dreams inside one of Marge's dreams. It was a terrible, uncreative end to the episode, and kicked off season 27 with an immediate sour taste in the mouth.
