10 The Simpsons Episodes That PISSED People Off

9. The Man Who Came To Be Dinner (S26 E10)

Every Man's Dream The Simpsons
20th Century

With the exception of the very first season, every year The Simpsons has put on a Halloween special in the form of a Treehouse of Horror episode. Particularly with the quality falling like it has over the last two thirds of the show's lifespan, these episodes have stayed as something of a highlight.

Arguably the MVPs of such episodes are Kang and Kodos, two aliens from Rigel Seven. Whether they are invading Earth, running for Presidency of the USA, or fathering Maggie, these two have always been a big part of Halloween on Evergreen Terrace.

Usually, however, this is where their involvement in the show would stay, and rightly so. The Simpsons used to revolve around the everyday lives of a typical American family, and though things have certainly spiraled away from this, having them involved in the Simpsons' normal lives would have taken things way too far.

Unfortunately, the writers crossed this line in season 26 when Homer and his family were taken to Rigel Seven as something of a sacrifice. This would have made for at least an interesting Treehouse of Horror segment, but to stretch it out for a full episode with absolutely no connection to Halloween, and in the main Simpsons canon, irritated fans to no end.
