Like several other members of The Big Bang Theory cast, Jim Parsons can play an instrument that he was seen to play on the show. Johnny Galecki (who plays Leonard Hofstadter) can play the cello like his character can, Mayim Bialik (who plays Amy Farrah Fowler) can play the harp like her character can (although she learned to do so specifically for the role) and Parsons himself can play the piano. He took piano lessons for no less than fourteen years when he was growing up and can play to a very good standard - so when you see him sat at the keyboard playing the song from Fiddler on the Roof whilst drunk on the show, it's actually him playing. He can also play the theremin, just like Sheldon did on the show, but not to quite as good a level as he can play the piano.
