3. 10 Years Later
Believe it or not but 2015 marks the tenth anniversary of the revived series of Doctor Who. The Doctor burst back onto our screens in 2005 and he hasn't stopped running since (the 2009 'gap year' not withstanding). While the BBC nor anyone directly related to the show have suggested that anything is being planned to mark the festivities, it's likely they'll be doing at least something to commemorate the milestone. You can't compare it the show's 50th but it's a pretty impressive feat nonetheless, especially when you consider that its ratings have remained constant since its return and the series is now more popular than ever. But just how could 10 years of NuWho be commemorated? The obvious way is by bringing back a character from the last decade and someone like Captain Jack Harkness would probably be the most likely candidate for that. Amy and Rory are dead, after all, and Rose Tyler is on a parallel world (though many would say that another return from her would be one too many - if, that is, she hasn't crossed that line already). It's a no for Donna Noble, too, whose brain would implode if she ever laid eyes on the Doctor again. Best not, then. There's always Martha Jones and she'd probably bring her hubby Mickey Smith along with her, too. There has to be a Smith on board.
