10 Things Doctor Who Wants You To Forget

1. Moon = Egg

Doctor Who once revealed that the Moon is an egg. Need we say more?

On a trip to 2049, the Doctor and Clara discover that the Earth is planning on destroying its only natural satellite because it's inexplicably getting bigger.

The crew is then faced with a moral dilemma over whether or not to destroy the Moon: do they kill whatever's inside it? Or leave it be, with no knowledge of how the hatching will affect the Earth?

In the end, they let the creature be born, and everything turns out fine.

Kill the Moon is a very controversial episode, and it's easy to see why. A lot of people were left thinking how silly it was that our nearest celestial neighbour was actually housing a giant space chicken.

Plus, Doctor Who has been going to the Moon for decades. Somehow, in all that time, nobody noticed that there was a giant alien inside it?

Nope, sorry, not buying it.

While this was certainly an intriguing idea for a story, it played havoc with the series' continuity, and it was just too far-fetched to believe.

Don't expect it to get brought up any time soon. Or ever.
