9. Brad Pitt And Jennifer Aniston Talking To Each Other

In Season 8 Episode 9, The One With The Rumor, Ross and Monica's old high school friend (played by Brad Pitt) joins them for Thanksgiving dinner. To much amusement, he and Rachel have a childish and bickering spat over the meal, revealing a long standing dislike and a damaging rumour that adversely affected one of their reputations.

Of course the joke here was that, with a massive wink to the audience, that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were the world's most famous couple. America's sweethearts were the reference point of all successful romance in the early '00s, and seeing them squabble and fight on camera was as ironic as it was entertaining.

Now though, with one of the messiest divorces in Hollywood history and an American tabloid press that simply won't let the issue die almost 10 years after they split, watching them even so much as sharing a screen together is impossibly awkward.
