He's potentially the most plot-armoured of them all, but apparently the man they call Isildur is dead.

So, that's a bit of a concern.

Okay, before the haters yell "TIME PARADOX!", lets just remember that we haven't seen a body, and that's TV Tropes 101 for throwing a little misdirect at an audience that a character has supposedly bitten the dust. There's no denying how important this character will yet become: he is the second King of Gondor (after his father Elendil) and one of the White City's founders. Oh, and he is the first human ringbearer and the one for whom the precious was just a little too influential to destroy.

We might be getting to know more about him, but he's not a new character to those who only know Tolkien's work from the motion pictures. Isildur is mentioned a few times by name throughout the LotR trilogy, mainly preceding the words "...'s heir," and following "This is Aragorn, he is..."

Lest we forget, we have also seen him too, going into battle against Sauron's forces, before taking up his fallen father's sword and cutting off The Dark Lord's fingers. Oh... yeah, fans of Elendil are in for some bad news...
