10 Things We Need In Stranger Things 3

6. Different Structure

Season two of Stranger Things is basically a more expensive and extensive version of season one. The story is told on a larger scale, with a larger scope, and a larger budget. But beat-for-beat, the structure of season two is almost an exact mirror of season one.

The only time it really differed from season one was the much-maligned seventh episode, The Lost Sister. And while fans reacted negatively to this detour that awkwardly hindered the momentum of the main storyline, it was actually a breath of fresh air.

As the series moves forward, it needs to be brave and take risks that aren't exactly in-line with what has come before. Otherwise, we're just going to wind up with a bunch of seasons that repeat the same formula over and over again.

From what is known so far, season three is going to be set in the summer and opt for a bit of a lighter tone than the second season. This is all fine and good and seems to indicate that the creators are looking to switch things up a bit. But without shaking up the structure of the season itself, none of it will matter.
