10 Things We NEED To See In The Rings Of Power

8. The Death Of Celebrimbor

Celebrimbor will be familiar to anyone who's played the Shadow of War franchise. Although the game got certain details about him right, it took extensive liberties.

Celebrimbor is perhaps the single most important elf in the entire Second Age. His actions would impact the fate of Middle-earth for thousands of years after his death. He was a prince of the Ñoldor, and a master craftsmen. During the Second Age he ruled the elven kingdom of Eregion, not far from where the Fellowship entered Moria.

During this time, Sauron disguised himself, using the name Annatar. He befriended Celebrimbor and helped him forge the Nine, and the Seven Rings of Power. When the Dark Lord revealed himself, Celebrimbor defied him, attempting to hide the location of the Rings.

The Dark Lord attacked Eregion, destroying it utterly and capturing the elven smith. He tortured Celebrimbor until he revealed the location of all the lesser Rings, save for the three worn by the elves. Eventually the elf prince died from this ordeal. Sauron desecrated his body, hanging it from a pole and using it as a standard in the coming wars.

This will likely be used as character motivation for Elrond, who after these events, established Rivendell with the remaining elves.
