10 Things We NEED To See In The Rings Of Power
3. Less CGI!
We simply can't escape CGI in this day and age. With a world like Middle-earth it's necessary, but let's hope the show runners have learned from the mistakes of The Hobbit. CGI can be great when it's used sparingly. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was the perfect example of good CGI use. Jackson used it to augment his scenes when required, instead of relying on it to build them.
The Hobbit was another story. Part of the reason those films didn't have the same feel, was due to the over saturation of special effects and digital characters. It was jarring to see so many, obviously, digital characters waved in front of our faces in every other shot.
We don't want The Rings of Power to turn into a Marvel-type franchise, with outrageously extensive special effects and fight sequences that become so ridiculous our characters feel like they have super hero abilities.
Given that we've already seen an elf catch an arrow in mid-air in the trailer, it's likely we'll have to live through at least a modicum of this kind of thing. But at they very least, let's hope they don't have elves running up falling boulders like Super Mario.
