10 Things We Want To See In The New Batman Animated Series

Along with the phenomenal artistic visions of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini who teamed up with legendary comic artists Mike Mingola and Kevin Nowlan. The heart of BTAS is the stories and its villains. The series is praised for its ability to follow the noir visually and thematically with stories that would set the stage revealing a more mute and sombre tone, showing the human side of the villains as somebody wronged.

A classic example is the work of Alan Burnett and writer Paul Dini who wrote Heart of Ice (1992) with Mr. Freeze. The story transforms the comic robotic origin full of puns to an emotional depth where we sympathise with the antagonist.

This paradigm shift in story often leaves a bittersweet taste with the audience at the end of the episode. The villain is caught and sent to Arkham, but now you also see them as a victim who have been wronged for what they want. In comparison to what was out there before with Super Friends, it’s a no brainer. Here's hoping this new adaptation will incorporate the same heart BTAS had.
