Everyones got to start out somewhere, and Bries first ever acting role was as Toto in her community centres production of The Wizard Of Oz. Its probably fair to say the part didnt stretch the limits of her talent. Apparently she had no lines, and had to crawl around on all fours, barking for most of the play. Its an inauspicious start to a career, but the bigger question is who thought it necessary to have someone play the dog in The Wizard Of Oz. Just get a toy. Or, you know, a dog. Totos in the majority of the film; thats a lot of time to be crawling around on a stage. Its hard to see who benefits from making one unlucky kid play the dog in a story otherwise made up of speaking parts. But it does give hope to everyone who was cast in Nativity plays as the donkey, or Shepherd Number 2. You too could one day grow up to be Alison Brie.
