10 Things You Didn't Know About Archer

You'll be surprised to learn what the original title of the show was.

When Adam Reed set out to create his animated comedy in 2009, he probably didn't expect to still be making it in 2022. While we still don't know when the next season of Archer will come out, we can rest assured knowing that it's definitely coming.

And while we wait, we can kill time by watching the existing twelve seasons, nearly all of which are extremely rewatchable. Has it really been TWELVE seasons? Holy s**tsnacks! That's a long time. It is a testament to the writers for managing to keep the show fresh and engaging for so long, considering that most shows, comedies in particular, start to fall off after four or five seasons.

They did take a few left turns (seasons 8 through 10, anyone?), but you could argue that it was actually great for the show because it stepped away from the usual formula and gave us a new look for the characters. And, besides, we got to see Krieger as a parrot, so that's a win.

As with any long-running series, a lot of stuff happens off-screen that the audience doesn't know about. So we did some digging and came up with ten interesting facts about Archer that you may not have heard about before.

10. Pam Was Supposed to Get Skinny Because of a Tapeworm

Remember when the agency became a drug cartel for a season? Yeah, that was wild. Ignoring the old adage "don't get high on your own supply", Pam got addicted to the cocaine and started taking so much of it that she lost most of her weight.

However, that was not the original plan they had for the character. Apparently, the writers first came up with the idea of Skinny Pam "just to see what she would look like" and started writing around that. They initially thought to give her a tapeworm as the cause of her weight loss, but eventually changed their minds.

A lot of the jokes about Pam in the earlier seasons were focused on her weight and sometimes she was on the verge of becoming a stereotypical "fat girl" character, so this change -- even if it was temporary -- gave us a welcome shift in the dynamic of the show. Can you imagine how different season five would have been without the cocaine?
