A distinctive voice is a key part in bringing an animated character to life. Luckily, Nancy Cartwright was perfectly cast as she was able to come up with Bart's easily recognised high-pitched voice almost instantaneously. But had a few events gone slightly differently, Bart's place in animated history could've been completely different. During the voice casting phase, Cartwright had originally auditioned for Lisa whilst Yeardley Smith, Lisa's voice actor, originally auditioned for Bart. This didnt pan out (thankfully) as Smiths voice was considered too girly for Bart whilst Cartwright thought Lisa was an incredibly boring character. Normally that wouldve been that, but after reading the character description for Bart, Cartwright immediately asked Matt Groening if she could try out for Bart. After hearing her audition, Groening hired Cartwright on the spot whilst the role of Lisa was given to Smith. As history shows, that proved to be a good decision. Not only was Cartwright the one who came up with Bart's early signature catchphrase 'eat my shorts!', but the thought of Lisa's voice saying all of Bart's quips and catchphrases is just really weird.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
