10 Things You Didn't Know About Only Fools & Horses

Only Foos And Horse Trigger
BBC

Only Fools & Horses is one of the most watched shows in British television history, attracting huge audiences, particularly for their Christmas specials towards the end of the shows run. But it wasn’t always that way.

The ratings for the first couple of series were actually quite poor for the time and the show struggled to find an audience during its initial run. The first two series averaged around 8 million viewers, which is a figure that most shows would kill for nowadays, but there was far less competition in the early 80s when these series aired and the figure is way off the massive numbers the show would go on to attract.

Slowly but surely, people began to gravitate towards the Trotters and the show began to draw in audiences of well over 10 million from the fourth series onwards.

Over 24.3 million people watched the unforgettable ‘Time On Our Side’ episode, which saw the Trotters finally become millionaires. This record still stands as the largest audience for an episode of a UK sitcom ever.
