9. She Was Raised In Hawaii

While Callies' higher education took place on the US mainland, she spent the majority of her childhood on the tropical island of Hawaii. She moved there when she was just 1-year-old, with her parents both teaching their subjects at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, while Callies attended Punahou High School when she was young, the same school that President Barack Obama graduated from in 1979, just after Callies moved to the island. It wasn't until she got to Dartmouth that she met her future husband, martial arts teacher Josh Winterhalt. The couple have one child, Keala Winterhalt, who was born in 2007.
