10 Things You Didn't Know About The Making Of The Simpsons

10. It Takes 480 Artists To Create Just One Episode

Uh, yeah, so... that's a lot of manpower, right? And probably a lot more than you expected, because 480 is a huge number of people when you remember this is a TV show. Still, that's how many people it takes to produce 22 minutes of animation, apparently. Every single episode of the show requires a whopping 480 artists in order to make it happen. Interestingly, however, not all of the artists are based in the United States. In fact, just 180 of the artists employed on The Simpsons work from the Film Roman building in Los Angeles. The remaining 200 are outsourced from two "facilities" based in South Korea (remember when Banksy offered up that controversial opening? That's what he was parodying!). The entire process takes 6 to 8 months, beginning to end. Now that's dedication.
