10 Things You Learn Re-Watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine
3. Terry's Issues That Only Boyle Seems To Acknowledge
Terry Jeffords is an outstanding police officer, husband and father.
That said, he has some personal demons which are glossed over and trivialised, not just by his squadmates but by the show's writers, too.
His physical and comedic presence are one of the things that make the show what it is. It's impossible not to love him for the way he is, and most of his squadmates would agree.
The second time around however, his problems become a little more evident.
He has issues with addiction (specifically to food), which isn't in and of itself condemning. But combine it with his hang ups about the way he looks and his obsessive exercise, and it starts to paint a picture that you can't help feel a little sorry for.
He does talk about his issues on occasion, but whenever he does, the squad tend to brush them off.
Luckily, Boyle's always there to point out in his own, sometimes hurtful, way that muscles aren't everything.
We love you for you, Terry.
