10 Things You Learn Rewatching Bob's Burgers

8. It Can Get Rather Dark At Times

In terms of animated adult sitcoms, Bob's Burgers is certainly one of the more light-hearted affairs. It's not really the type of cartoon to delve into more serious drama or heavy subject matters and it works much better for the general tone of the series.

However, it's the high-spirited nature of the show which makes the darker, scarier moments all the more hard-hitting. In season one, Bob experiences an eerie dream where he discovers a backdoor entrance to a secret bar and is greeted by Louise's night light (resembling a similar scene in The Shining).

The Halloween episodes have featured some delightfully terrifying moments, from Louise getting pranked by her own family in a spooky house and Tina being haunted by a dissected pig in her class, to the kids almost being crushed in their fort by a lorry.

And even in non-Halloween episodes, The Belcher family do come up against some rather terrifying encounters - being cornered by Helen the murderer (Housetrap), getting chased by an insane truck driver (Christmas in the Car), almost drowning under the Wharf pier (World Wharf II) and of course, being accused of canabalisim in the pilot episode.
