10 Things You Learn Rewatching Gilmore Girls

1. The Storyline Isn't Really Feasible

Gilmore Girls
The CW

As adorable as the Gilmore Girls and their delightful town are, it's all a bit muddled. The story is based around Lorelai getting pregnant at sixteen and fleeing from home to make a life of her own as a single mother.

In Emily in Wonderland, we find out that when Lorelai left her rich parents to raise a child alone, and that she and Rory lived in a small shed just on the back of the Independence Inn. It's a tragic backstory, but it's also hard to believe anyone would let a sixteen year old and their baby live in such poor living conditions.

When Lorelai finally gets a decent home for her and Rory, she is able to maintain a fairly expensive lifestyle of frequent take-outs, business school and frivolous shopping of unnecessary items, all on an innkeeper's salary. It is true that Lorelai has asked Emily for financial help a couple of times over the years, but not enough to cover the cost of her way of life.

And furthermore, Rory's journey through her education makes no sense. How did somewhere as elite as Chilton accept her when she was two months behind in the academic year? How did she achieve valedictorian when Paris got better grades than her? And how did she graduate Yale on time after doing all that community service? Something doesn't add up...

We still love the Gilmore Girls - and always will - but factually, they shouldn't be doing so well in life!
