10 Things You Learn Rewatching Gilmore Girls

A lot goes by unnoticed when the Gilmore Girls talk so fast.

Gilmore Girls
The CW

Even if it's been over ten years since Gilmore Girls ended, the series is still very much treasured and discussed. And thanks to the revival, it has fueled the ambiguity and unanswered questions based around the lives of Lorelai and Rory, such as the mystery of who the father of Rory's unborn child is.

The mother-daughter series is thoroughly rewatchable for its comforting atmosphere, snappy dialogue and gripping drama.

And it's not just the Gilmore family, the show's run provided us with several different supporting characters who were so quirky and unusual. With a strong ensemble flowing throughout each season, it's no wonder we were so hooked on the fictional town of Stars Hollow.

But for such a quaint dramedy series, there are actually plenty of hidden details and moments which go right under your noses until you rewatch the episodes from start to finish. When revisiting Gilmore Girls, you think differently about the storyline, you have a better understanding of the setting and most of all, you see the characters in a completely new perspective.

10. Richard's Least Favourite Food

Emily and Richard clearly have a refined palette because during their Friday night dinners, they only have the most exquisite meals. But there is one food which Richard seems to detest and it isn't something like a pop tart or a takeaway burger - it's fish.

In the episode "Love and War and Snow", whilst Richard and Emily are unusually eating a frozen pizza, Richard remarks that it is actually quite good and better than the salmon that keeps showing up. Later on in season six when Rory takes over the DAR event, he thanks her for not serving the salmon puffs. And then in season seven, after Richard's heart attack, Emily seems to be develop an obsession with fish, to which he repeatedly tells her over and over that he hates it.

Yes, it is a frivolous trait about Richard Gilmore, but it is very cleverly written in as part of his character.
