10 Things You Learn Rewatching Gilmore Girls
8. Yale Foreshadowing
During the first three seasons of Gilmore Girls, sometimes referred to as the "Chilton" era, there is a huge build up to Rory working hard in her studies in order to secure a place at Harvard university, the school she's been dreaming of going to since she was four years old. Likewise, her then arch-nemesis Paris has only ever desired attending Harvard.
As we all know, both girls changes their plans to attend Yale instead. Although it was an unexpected twist in the show's storyline, there was a very subtle foreshawdowing in the season one episode "Rory's Birthday Parties".
When Rory attends a college fair, she and Paris happen to bump into each other when looking at the Harvard booth. In the scene, Rory is wearing an argyle sweater, comprised of the colours blue and white. This just so happens to be official colours of Yale university.
Whilst it could be just a sheer coincidence from the costume department, it is at least a nice way of presaging what Rory's future holds.
