5. Bruce's Mentors

In the various incarnations of Batman throughout the years and across various mediums, we've seen Bruce Wayne have a host of mentors and training partners.

Where the Bruce Wayne series was concerned, the plan was to show the young Bruce travelling the world and learning along the way. Away from the central action taking place in Gotham City, audiences would have also had chance to take in the sights of France and China as Wayne honed his skills and grew into his destiny of the World's Greatest Detective.

Just who would be tutoring Bruce, then? Why, four key figures who were due to appear in such a mentoring role were Ra's al Ghul, 'Wildcat' Ted Grant, Richard Dragon, and Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke the Terminator.

To become Batman, Bruce Wayne obviously has to become a master of multiple martial arts and fighting techniques, while simultaneously have a genius-level mind which allows him to decipher any conundrum he's presented with. And key to that, are those people who have a hand in training Bruce for the battles that lie ahead of him once he dons the cape 'n' cowl.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic.
