9. Nic Pizzolatto Will Return
One of the aspects of True Detective that made it really unique within the landscape of television is that every episode was written by one person: showrunner Nic Pizzolatto. While most shows have a staff of writers in order to speed up production, True Detective just had Pizzolatto. This, along with one director (Cary Fukunaga) for every episode, gave it a singular voice, and thus made it feel even more cinematic than it already was. The good news is that this singular voice will continue for season two. Pizzolatto will continue on as both showrunner and writer for all episodes. He has said that it will be really personal. So while everything else about the show will be different next season, we can at least be secure in the fact that the same man who gave us the exquisite first season will still be at the helm. With that being said, the next season has a lot to live up to. Lets just hope Pizzolatto can catch lightning again.
